"... in breath, in soul and… in life"

Pedro Johnson is a poet, song-, and screenwriter from Vancouver, BC. At age seventeen he independently published his first book, The Tyrfung Saga. The epic poem explores ancient Germanic language and mythology, imagining a continuation of the Old English Beowulf. After high school, he attended the University of British Columbia in the department of Ancient Mediterranean & Near Eastern Studies, specializing in Ancient Greek language, literature, and translation. The love and fascination for biblical language that developed as a result of his work at the university, has contributed enormously to his poetry. He has written songs and poems in English, Ancient Greek, and German, engaging in artistic collaborations with musicians all over the world. He is currently working on a screenplay.

"Ou Boulomai Adein"

In the works...

Written as a kind of response to the end of Psalm 48, "Ou Boulomai Adein" revisits the same image of Jerusalem, this time in order to lament an inevitable, long-distance relationship, and the difficulties in communicating because of the heartbreak of separation. Pedro Johnson was inspired to write this song in Koine Greek because of his fascination with the language of the earliest translation of the Hebrew Bible, the Septuagint. It is beautifully brought to life in collaboration with the world-renowned Greek lyre-player, Lina Palera.
